"JoJo, being a human means having limits. I've learned something... The more carefully you scheme, the more unexpected events come along. As long as you're human... (...) I REJECT MY HUMANITY, JOJO!"

Summary[]

The story of Dio Brando begins with his father, Dario Brando. In 1868, Dario came across a carriage crash. When he went to loot it, he found that one of the victims, the nobleman George Joestar, was still alive, as was his infant son. George mistook Dario as his savior, and became indebted to him.

After 12 years of working his mother to death and abusing Dio, Dario was poisoned by Dio and left to die. Now a self made orphan, Dio took advantage of the debt owed to his father and was adopted by George Joestar. He immediately asserted his authority over George's son Jonathan, brutalizing him in a "friendly" boxing match, trcking a butler into burning his dog alive, and forcing his love Erina to kiss him before Jonathan. This resulted in a fight between the two, in which Dio's blood was splashed on a decorative Stone Mask hanging on the wall. The blood made spikes appear from the Mask.

Seven years later, both Jonathan and Dio are graduating college. Both have studied the Stone Mask. However, Dio had been poisoning George for years, until he was caught by Jonathan. Found out, Dio planned to kill Jonathan using the Stone Mask, and tested it on a civilian on London. To his horror, the victim became a Vampire, which was destroyed by the sun before it could kill Dio.

Returning to the Joestar Mansion, Dio attempted to kill Jonathan, only for George to take the knife. With no way out, Dio rejected his humanity and put on the Stone Mask, activating it with George's blood. In the ensuing battle, Dio slaughtered the group of police officers there, but was trapped in the Mansion by Jonathan as it burned to the ground.

However, Dio survived and killed hundreds of people, drinking their blood to heal his wounds. After taking over the village of Windknight's Lot, he was again confronted by Jonathan, who had learned the Hamon power to defeat the Vampire and destroy the Stone Mask. Jonathan destroyed Dio's body in the fight, but his head was rescued by his zombie servant.

Dio then attacked Jonathan on his way to America for his honeymoon. In his attempt to steal Jonathan's body, Jonathan died cradling Dio's head, and the ship they were on exploded, seemingly killing them both. However, Dio survived and successfully grafted his head onto Jonathan's body, but was trapped in his coffin at the bottom of the Atlantic.

Nearly a century later in 1983, Dio's coffin was dredged up by a fishing boat off the Canary Islands. Now known as DIO, he took residence in Cairo and planned to achieve "Heaven." He allied himself with Enya the Hag, who pierced him with a Stand Arrow, awakening DIO's Stand, the World. Unfortunately, the bloodline connection from Jonathan's body also caused this to awaken Stands in Jonathan's two descendents, Joseph Joestar and Jotaro Kujo. With their allies, they traveled from Japan to Egypt to kill DIO, defeating all of the Stand users he sent to stop them.

Once the Joestar Group reached Egypt, they fought DIO. Although DIO was able to kill Noriyaki Kakyoin and mortally wound Joseph, he was ultimately defeated by Jotaro, who destroyed his Stand and exposed him to sunlight, killing Dio Brando for good.

DIO (Part 3)[]

This is Dio as he appeared in the third Part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Stardust Crusaders. Now known as simply DIO, he's lost many of his Vampire powers due to possessing Jonathan's body. However, he now has a Stand, The World, a physically powerful astral projection that can stop time. DIO is an average Mid Tier character.

Destructive Power Feats:[]

The World easily impales a normal human.[1]

The World punches Heirophant Green through several street signs.[2]

The World shatters a chimney, with the debris having enough force to send Joseph flying.[3]

The World kicks Jotaro through a building and across Cairo.[4]

It is stated multiple times that the World is the exact same type of Stand as Star Platinum. Therefore, the World should be capable of the same feats as Star Platinum. This is supported by DIO's fight with Jotaro, where The World matches and surpasses Star Platinum in speed and strength.[5][6]

Star Platinum Scaling:[]

  • The force of Star Platinum's punches on Heirophant Green collapses a section of a building.

Speed Feats: []

Note: Until he drinks Joseph's blood, the World can stop time for 5 seconds (from DIO's point of view). Therefore, everything he does during stopped time is within 5 seconds.

Blocks the Emerald Splash.[7]

Moves Polnareff down a flight of stairs and gets back to his original position in 5 seconds.[8]

Severs every line in Heirophant Green's web and kills Kakyoin in 5 seconds.[9] Kakyoin says that his web has a 20 meter radius.

After DIO's servant opens his coffin, DIO cuts him to pieces and puts him in the coffin, leaving it looking exactly how it was before, and hides within 5 seconds.[10] Although it's unclear if DIO was actually in the coffin at the time, he was hiding somewhere in the room.

Dismembers a cat, puts its body in people's food, knocks a guy over, burns a woman, stabs another woman, goes to attack Joseph but remembers he's protected, and throws a knife at him, all within 4 seconds.[11]

Using time stop, DIO appears to teleport from in front of Jotaro to the street sign next to him, and then to the top of the building behind him.[12] 5 seconds each.

Throws dozens of knives in 1 second.[13]

Gets a road roller and brings it back to a bridge within 7 seconds.[14] They're near the middle of the bridge and the road roller isn't anywhere on it.

Strength Feats:[]

Deflects an Emerald from the Emerald Splash with a flick.[15]

Kicks Kakyoin across Cairo with enough force to embed his body in a metal water tower.[16]

Casually backhands Polnareff hard enough to send him flying and shatter stone.[17]

Tears up a street sign with one hand.[18]

After drinking Joseph's blood, DIO lifts a road roller.[19]

Durability Feats:[]

Blocks the Emerald Splash with his bare hands,[20][21] which can destroy the top of a tower.[22]

Survives Silver Chariot stabbing him through the head.[23]

Survives punches from Star Platinum [24][25] (for Star Platinum strength, please refer to here), despite them tearing his head apart.

After drinking Joseph's blood, he tanks and recovers almost instantly from Star Platinum's barrage.[26]

Range Feats:[]

The World has a stated range (how far away from the User a Stand can operate) of 10 meters.[27]

DIO throws knives from outside of both Star Platinum and The World's range.[28]

Time Stop has universal range.

Intelligence Feats:[]

In order to stay safe from Star Platinum, uses knives to attack at range.[29]

Tricks Jotaro into punches him near Joseph so he can drink his blood, healing himself.[30]

Powers, Abilities, and Gear:[]

The World-[]

Za Warudo

The World is DIO's Stand. A Stand is a physical manifestation of one's fighting spirit, psychically generated by it's user. Almost all Stands share certain "rules." The World follows all of them.

  1. A Stand can only be seen or heard by other Stand Users. However, normal people can still see how a Stand affects the environment, such as seeing stone crack as a Stand punches it, or feeling the heat from a fire-manipulating Stand (although they cannot see the flames).
  2. Only a Stand can hurt/effect another Stand. This one is up for debate, as there have been multiple instances of Stands being hurt by objects such as a razor blade or blows from a human. However, the instances were done by another Stand (Ebony Devil holding the razor) or Stand User (Jolyne Cujoh kicking C-Moon).
  3. There are other abilities implied to exist for all Stands, but The World has demonstrated none of them.

The World possesses superhuman strength, speed, durability, and precision. It's official Stand Stats, with "A" being "Excelent," "C" being normal human level, and "E" being "Very Weak," are:

Destructive Power- A

Speed- A

Range- C

Durability- A

Precision- B

Development Potential- B

Time Stop- The World's special ability is to stop time. Only DIO can move freely within frozen time, allowing him to attack or set up traps freely. When he fought the Stardust Crusaders, The World could stop time for approximately 5 seconds, from DIO's perspective. After drinking Joseph Joestar's blood, The World was able to stop time for about 9 seconds, and DIO claimed that it would increase the longer he fought.

Second Stand- Due to the unique composition of his body, DIO is capable of using Jonathan Joestar's Stand. Referred to as both Hermit Purple #2 and The Passion, the Stand lets DIO project psychic images of other places, usually through a camera or crystal ball.

Regeneration- Although DIO lost most of his Vampire powers when he took over Jonathan's body, he retained arguably his most useful one: regeneration. DIO can survive grievous wounds and heal from them quickly. However, he usually needs to drink blood to heal from serious injuries, such as a shattered skull or a severed limb. After drinking Joseph's blood, his regeneration got faster and stronger, no longer needing to drink more blood to heal.

Flesh Buds- Using his Vampire head, DIO can implant spores of his own flesh into others. The buds pierce the brain and make the victim do whatever DIO wants. Should someone attempt to remove one, the bud will sprout tentacles and attempt to kill whoever is removing it. DIO can also activate these tentacles to kill the victim. Should DIO die, the cells of the flesh bud will merge with the victim, mutating them into a hideous, miserable, unkillable monster.[31] DIO has never used Flesh Buds in combat before.

Weaknesses:[]

DIO needs to consciously activate his time stop. As such, a surprise attack[32] or a very fast attack can prevent him from stopping time.[33][34]

DIO is much more succeptible to physical trauma than before. He claims that destroying his brain would kill him[35], and getting his skull shattered paralyzes his lower body.[36]

Since he is still a Vampire, sunlight will kill him instantly, and Hamon is deadly.

Other Feats:[]

By drinking blood, he regenerates a hole in his stomach and reattaches his leg.[37]

Regenerates his splattered head with Joseph's blood.[38]

After drinking Joseph's blood, regenerates near instantly.[39]
